NFL International Combine features players from all over the world

The NFL International Combine set for Cologne, Germany, October 19-20, will feature some of the most talented players from around Europe.

The roster of 33 which is expected to expand to 50 by registration includes one of Sweden’s top lineman, guard John Lindgren from the Carlstad Crusaders. Joining him are David Bada, of the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, Austria’s top running back Sandro Platzgummer and British running back Glen Toonga, who just finished the season with the Dresden Monarchs in the German Football League.

Germany and the United Kingdom have the greatest representation with five players each while there are four Austrians and two each from France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Brazil.

The players were be undergoing perhaps two days of the most grueling testing to enable NFL scouts to decide if any deserve to be in the NFL International Pathway Program which could lead to an international roster spot on an NFL team.

Following the Combine, a select number of athletes who meet specific performance standards and display the potential to play in the NFL, will be invited to train in the US for three months.
