Edmonton Eskimos sign Allgäu Comets DB Malcolm Washington

The Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League have added  the top defensive back in the German Football League in 2019, former Allgäu Comets DB Malcolm Washington, to their roster for the 2020 season.

The 6’2″, 190 lb, 25 year old Washington from Houston, Texas, led the German Football League in interceptions with 10, and passes defended with 20. He accounted for almost half of his team’s 22 overall interceptions. He attended Northern Iowa University from 2016 to 2017 and appeared in 21 games. He recorded 91 total tackles, six interceptions and seven pass breakups.

Edmonton finished the CFL season by reaching the Eastern Conference Final after beating the Montreal Alouettes in the  semifinal 37-29. They lost in the final 36-16 to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Needless to say, Washington is thrilled about the opportunity and acknowledges how important playing for the Comets was.

“This is a blessing. I can’t stress enough how important my year with the Comets was. They gave me the opportunity to continue doing what I love to do.”
