LIVESTREAM: Mexico – Raptors @Dinos, Saturday, Feb. 22, 7p (8p ET, 2a Feb. 23 CET)

The 2-0 Saltillo Dinos will play host to the 2-0 Naucalpan Raptors Saturday, February 22 as Mexico’s Liga De Futbol Americano (LFA) heads into its third weekend of play.

The Dinos opened the season with a 12-10 win over the Artilleros and then last week beat the Fundidores 23-15 on the road. The Raptors downed the Mexicas 13-5 in the opening game of the season two weeks ago and followed that up with a 19-2 victory over the newcomers to the league this year, the Pioneros.

Naucalpan sits first in the LFA North Conference with Saltillo right behind in second.

The Dinos boast a total of seven imports on the team including two Canadians from the CFL-LFA Draft. Saltillo had the first overall pick in the draft of Canadian players and with it selected offensive lineman Ben Koczwara from London, Ont. The former Waterloo Warrior was previously selected in the eighth round of the 2018 CFL Draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Also featured on the Dinos roster is running back Bryce Vyeira who has been on the rosters of both the Redblacks and Saskatchewan Roughriders. Defensive back Kelton Davis (Western Kentucky) is in his second year with the team while linebacker Anthony Patrick (Bethel) is in his first. The defensive line is anchored by Senquay Eichelberger (Tennessee Tech) and massive, 6’6″, 270-pound Jadarius Ceasar from Tuscaloosa, Alabama who played for the SMU Huskies in Canada. Wide receiver Jaylon Mosley (Ole Miss) gives Saltillo a potent aerial attack.

The defense has been the key to the Raptor’s two wins so far as the team has allowed a total of seven points. Karrheem Darrington (Bethel) is the lone import American for Naucalpan with Canadian quarterback Graham Kelly (Mount Allison) behind center. Linebacker Bradly Friesen (UBC) and wide receiver Zeph Fraser (Guelph) are the other two CFL-LFA draft picks on the Raptors roster. Kelly scored a touchdown in last week’s win.

This will be a battle for first place in the North with the Dinos having a slight home field advantage.
