Monday Night Football in Mexico Tickets Sell Out in Minutes

If there was any doubt about the popularity of the NFL and football in Mexico, it was dispelled in minutes when tickets for the November Monday Night Football game to be played in Mexico City went on sale in Mexico.

The NFL announced that tickets for the game between the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans sold out almost as quickly as they were available. This means that Estadio Azteca will be at capacity for the first ever Monday Night Football game to be played outside of the United States on November 21.

In addition to local fans, Estadio Azteca will host 6,000 season ticket holders from the Raiders and Texans.

The response from NFL fans in Mexico did not go unnoticed by the league.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed excitement over the ticket sales:

“This sellout further confirms what a passionate fan base we have in Mexico. We look forward to experiencing the exciting atmosphere in Estadio Azteca when the Oakland Raiders meet the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football this November.”

NFL Mexico expressed its appreciation of the support it has received from the Secretary of Tourism, the Tourism Board of Mexico, NFL Mexico sponsors Banorte, SAP, and Visa, Estadio Azteca, and the game’s broadcast partners Televisa and ESPN.
