How do you respond when someone makes a mistake?

That’s the subject of my Inc.com column from this morning, entitled A Lesson in Leadership: 2 Football Coaches, 2 Player Mistakes and 2 Very Different Reactions. It details last night’s football game between the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks. (You can read the original by clicking the link above; continue reading for the sum-up.)

The game made history, but not for any reason players and coaches want: It was the lowest scoring overtime game in the NFL, ever. (The game ended in a 6-6 tie.)

But this exercise in futility ended in dramatic fashion. Here are the details (per this morning’s column):

First, with 3:26 left in overtime, Arizona kicker Chandler Catanzaro missed a 24-yarder. (He had already made two field goals over 40 yards, including a 45-yarder just a few minutes earlier.)
