From The Dallas Cowboys To Sweden’s Limhamn Griffins

Following an outstanding two year career with the Purdue Boilermakers and a try out with the Dallas Cowboys,  Swedish offensive tackle David Hedelin has returned to Sweden and will play the 2017 season with the Limhamn Griffins. The Griffins play in Sweden’s Superserien, the top league in Sweden. In 2016 the team finished with a 4-6 record.

Hedelin, 6’5″, 285 lb,  originally spent two years at the City College of San Francisco before earning a scholarship at Purdue.

A native of Stockholm, Hedelin origianally played for the Tyresö Royal Crowns before pursuing his college career in the United States.

According to the Griffins, Hedelin chose Limhamn as he will be able to finish studying and then begin working in the city of Malmö where the Griffins are located. Hedelin, who graduated with a degree in sociology, has turned to the IT industry as he has demonstrated skills as a program developer. A company in the area – Sogeti – has offered to train and employ him.

Needless to say, the Swedish club is happy. Griffins chairman Joan Travesset:

“David is a fantastically talented football player and it pleases us very much that David now reinforces both the Griffins and Sogeti teams.”

Phillip Corter, Griffins elite team manager:

“This is a fantastic signing and opportunity for our organization. David is an incredible addition to our offense. He has experience at a level and a world that few Swedes have experienced. This will give him a rare level of knowledge that he can share with his teammates and the younger ranks of the association. We are very happy and proud that David is a Griffin.”
