Team France stuns Germany to earn spot in gold medal game

In a mistake-prone semifinal in the IFAF Paris 2017 European Junior Championship tournament, Team France scored in the first quarter and held on to beat Germany 7-0 at St.Laur.Plegelatte stadium in Villepinte, outside Paris, France.

The French front seven were simply too much to handle for Germany’s offense and the running game stalled, with the Germans unable to move the ball at all recording minus six yards rushing for the entire game.

French running back Bafode Savane led the way with 101 yards rushing while scoring the sole touchdown in the game. Team France quarterback Gregoire Noel completed five of seven passes for 49 yards.

Germany’s two quarterbacks Leo Kober and Moritz Johannknecht mustered a total of 73 yards passing between them.

France scored on their second possession of the game in the first quarter as Savane got outside the German contain and rambled 12 yards for the score.

Team France controlled the rest of the game as proven by the time of possession. The French offense held on to the ball for 28:26 minutes while Germany had the ball for 11:34 minutes. Germany could must only five first downs the entire game while Team France had 13. And the German offense reached the red  zone just once.
