Poland: Wroclaw Panthers sign QB Chris Forcier

The Wroclaw Panthers, who play in Poland’s Liga Futbolu Amerykańskiego (LFA), have signed their quarterback for the 2019 season, Chris Forcier from Furman University (NCAA Div. I, Southern Conference).

The 29 year old Forcier, a 6’3″, 212 lb native of La Jolla, California, played with the Pardubice Stallions of the Czech American Football League in 2018. He had stepped away from playing, devoted himself to coaching and in 2017 he helped La Jolla reach the California State quarterfinals. At Furman, he set numerous school records and in his senior year (2011) he threw for 2,265 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for another 250. With blazing 4.39, 40 yard speed he attracted the attention of the New York Jets where he spent training camp in 2012 as well as the Jacksonville Jaguars. He signed with the Milano Rhinos in 2013 leading them to the playoffs.

He is not the only quarterback in his family as both his brothers Tate (Michigan) and Jason (Stanford) were Div. 1 college quarterbacks.

Panthers head coach Val Gunn (a former Texas A&M QB):

“Chris is the perfect quarterback for my system. I have known Chris and his family for some time and feel fortunate to have been able to sign him.  Chris has a big arm and is also a very dangerous runner, so in my system he checks all the boxes. He’s older of course, and that to me is a huge benefit in many ways. With his size and speed as well as high football IQ and maturity, he brings the complete package to the Panthers.
