Portugal: Porto Mutts cruise to win over Lisboa Devils

The Porto Mutts improved to 2-0 with a comfortable 20-6 win over the Lisboa Devils (1-1) in Portuguese League of American Football action this past weekend in Porto, Portugal.

The Mutts took a 20-0 lead into the fourth quarter before the Devils, 2016, 2017 Portuguese champions, were able to get on the scoreboard.

Porto quarterback Francisco Pereira threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third in the decisive victory. Wide receiver Miguel Vasconcelos hauled in a 35 yard touchdown pass from Pereira while Ricardo Alves caught a 31 yard scoring strike.

Lisboa quarterback Bernardo Solipa threw a late touchdown pass to Robert Vahos (Marist College) to prevent a shutout.

With the win, Porto moves into a tie for first place with the Lisboa Navigators in the seven-team Portuguese league. Each team has two wins and no losses.

Next up for the Mutts is a February 3 showdown with the Navigators while the Devils will face the Paredes Lumberjacks.
