Around the Continent: Roger’s Corner

With the European American Football Championships underway in Austria, many leagues have taken a two-week break. Nevertheless, there was plenty of football action outside of Austria, where the tournament is being played.  Make sure to keep track of all the events at the championships by reading www.americanfootballinternational.com or www.eurosportsscouting.com.  And remember we welcome all comments.

Austria

The league will start play again on June 14.

CEFL (Central European Football League)

Only one game was played as Vukovi Belgrade (3-2) beat the Ljubljana Silverhawks 48-20. The Kragujevac Wild Boars still lead the league with a 4-1 record.

Czech Republic

Two games were played in the Czech league.  The Prague Lions beat the Trnava Bulldogs 28-26 to advance to third place while the Brno Alligators defeated Pardubice 42-16.  The Prague Black Panthers (Europe #8) were idle and are in first, followed by the Bobcats in second.

Denmark

Denmark participated in the European American Football Championships and Danish league play was halted for two weeks. The action resumes June 14.

Finland

The Finnish season kicks off on June 14.

Germany

The league will resume June 14.

Great Britain

Only one game was played and that was in Premiership North as Yorkshire Rams lost to the Birmingham Bulls 15-10. The Tamworth Phoenix still leads the North at 4-0 while the undefeated London Warriors (3-0) lead the South.
