Berlin Rebels crush hapless Hamburg Huskies 63-6

A small crowd at Berlin’s Mommenstadion watched as their home team Rebels destroyed the winless Hamburg Huskies this past Saturday.

Despite a team-only meeting during the week to correct the disastrous start to the season, the Huskies have lost in yet another blowout, getting crushed by the Berlin Rebels 6-63 (0-14/6-21/0-28/0-0). The only highlight was the Huskies’ first touchdown after two games by Felician Danquah.

The Berlin hoststook an early two touchdown lead, but the touchdown by John Uribe to Danquah gave the Huskies a glimmer of hope in the 30° C (86° F) heat. The Rebels quickly destroyed this small chance however, as they marched down the field into the end zone at will, giving Hamburg all but one drive to get into their own red zone.

Said Hamburg’s chairman Timo Müller: “It was a bad day for us. We missed some key players due to injury, especially in our receiving corps. Those circumstances gave us very little chance to change the outcome of this game.”

The Huskies now have little time to learn from their mistakes, as the Rebels travel to Hamburg next week already for the second game in the home and home series.
