Great Britain’s Birmingham Bulls Remember Eurobowl I

Exactly 30 years ago yesterday, the Birmingham Bulls entered the inaugural Eurobowl I and faced off against the then-named Leicester Panthers in a qualifying game.

Just three years after being formed, the Bulls triumphed 32-18 over the Panthers at a snowy Saffron Lane Stadium to move on to the quarterfinals where they defeated the Ansbach Grizzlies 29-18. Unfortunately, the fairy tale run ended with a 40-7 semifinal defeat to the Bologna Doves.

However, the Bulls went on to finish 3rd overall and capped off a remarkable tournament with shutout 21-0 win over the Amsterdam Rams.

The Birmingham Bulls play in the British American Football Assocation’s National League (BAFANL) system at the Division 1 level, the tier directly below the Premiership. This season the Bulls will join the newly formed Midlands Football Conference, one of three conference in Division 1.
