Calanda Broncos

What arose from an idea of a small group of people in 1991, is a respectable organization with over 150 active athletes and members today. The Calanda Broncos involve 7 teams already and have an average of 700 spectators per home game. Hundreds of people have made their contribution to that success till now.
In the 22 year old club history, the Calanda Broncos have already reached 9 national and 2 European finals and won 8 titles. The masterpiece surely turned out in 2012, when they got the Eurobowl, to Chur, Switzerland.
In 2013, the Broncos got into the new season under new omens: with the new headcoach, Cam Olson, three US imports, one under them Eurobowl-MVP DJ Wolfe, and only half number of European players, the Broncos tried to tie up to the magical previous year. Although this goal was not accomplished quite, the Broncos organisation can be proud of the achievements: In the Swiss league, the Broncos won their 50th game as also their 5th Swiss title in series. In the Eurobowl competition the Broncos won the quarter final versus the German champion, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, with 42:28. But the Broncos weren’t able to reach the Eurobowl final again: In Innsbruck, the semi final was lost with 37:7 versus the Swarco Raiders.
The course for the season 2014 is already set: With Adam Rita, the Broncos have hired an experienced coach. He has been active for 40 years into the highest football leagues of Canada and won the championship in the CFL (Canadian football league) six times. Rita won his first CFL title as headcoach in 1991, the year of the Broncos foundation, and was chosen as the Canadian coach of the year.
In the season 2014, the Broncos will take part in the Swiss league and in the Big6 league, the highest football league of Europe.
