Dacia New Sponsor For Austria’s Vienna Vikings

The Vienna Vikings have been operating without a major sponsor for the past two years after the departure of Raffeissen. This past week the Vikings, one of the top teams in Europe, announced that Dacia, part of the Renault Group has stepped up as the team’s key sponsor.

The Dacia Vikings will take the field this spring backed by all the resources of a major car manufacturer. As part of the Renault Group Dacia gives the Vikings a powerful ally and partner. The change in name is an indicator that Dacia will be more than a silent partner.

With this support, it would seem that the Vikings, with one of the best-run American football organizations in Europe, will be no doubt be taking another step up on the field as well. The Vikings have not won the Austrian title since 2014 so this definitely would give them a boost.

Olivier Wittmann, Director General Renault Austria:

“Sly, robust, generous and reliable are the attributes found in Dacia’s mission statement. It is precisely these values that should shape the partnership between the Vikings and DACIA.”

Needless to say, the Vikings (13 time Austrian champions, 5 time Eurobowl champions) are pleased with the arrangement. Vikings President Karl Wurm:

“To enter into a cooperation with a successful global corporation such as Renault and an emerging auto manufacturer like Dacia is a stable foundation for the Dacia Vikings, the ideal path of development for the team and its athletes.”
