France: Nice Dauphins sign DB Samuel Drapeau from Montreal

The Nice Dauphins have signed versatile Canadian defensive back Samuel Drapeau from Montreal, Canada for the 2018 season.

Drapeau,6’1″, 190 lb, a native of Montreal, was a four year starter (2013-2016) for the University of Montreal Carabins, helping the Carabins to win the Vanier Cup , Canadian university championship, in 2014.

Playing both defensive back and wide receiver, Drapeau was a valuable member of one of the top college teams in Canada.

Carabins head coach Danny Maciocia: 

“Samuel is a great kid, and a hard worker. He can play both sides on the ball. and is very coachable!”

In his senior year, 2016, he finished with 9.5 tackles, two interceptions (including a 50 yard return) and a forced fumble. He had CFL and NFL tryouts.

In addition to his role as a player on the team, the Dauphins announced that Drapeau will also assist the coaching staff, helping head coach Yannick Fatto to coordinate the defense
