Germany: Munich Cowboys hire first female assistant in GFL as Nadine Nurasyid joins coaching staff

The Munich Cowboys have blazed a new trail as the first German Football League team to sign a female assistant coach, Nadine Nurasyid who will join the coaching staff as defensive backs coach.

Cowboys head coach Garren Holley:

“Nadine and I have a have known each other for some years now since my first stint in Munich. I have been her coach on the ladies team here in Munich and she has always been hungry to learn. She’s worked her butt off to get to where she is at. She was the DC for a GFL 2 team last season. And from clinicing with her she is more knowledgable and up to date with schemes and technique than most male coaches. We’ve built a trust over our time knowing each other and it is her time to shine. I am blessed to have her on staff and as an extension of myself, I know she will have our DB unit rolling at full tilt. She’s bring an attention to detail and drive for this sport that is contagious.”

The 32 year old native of Munich, only started playing football five years ago but has amassed an impressive resume. In addition to playing on the 2015 German women’s national team which finished third in the European championships, she has been an anchor for the Munich Cowboys ladies team. This past season, she led them to the German championship game while also serving as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Straubing Spiders of the GFL2 (German Football League second division). The Spiders finished fourth in overall defense allowing 21.9 points per game. She is currently working on her doctorate at the Technical University of Munich in the field of sports and health sciences.  Overall, she can draw on experience from 16 years of coaching, especially in athletic training, fitness and personal training. She also helped Germany’s flag team to a second place finished in the 2017 European championships.

In addition, Nurasyid is active as a member of the German American Football Federation teaching committee for the C-Trainer training in American football.
