Live Scores: IFAF Europe Champions League Entering Final Stages

The IFAF Europe Champions League tournament is heading into the final stages of the conference rounds with three games on tap this weekend. Sweden’s Carlstad Crusaders head to Russia to face the St. Petersburg Griffins in a game which has no bearing on the standings as Turkey’s Koc Rams have already wrapped up the Final Four berth from Conference East.

Then the Prague Lions from the Czech Republic will play host to Poland’s Wroclaw Panthers in a crucial game that will determine who wins the Central Conference. Finally Turkey’s Sultans will be visited by the Novi Sad Dukes from Serbia in Conference South play.

Conference East

Carlstad Crusaders (Sweden) (0-1) – St. Petersburg Griffins (0-1)

The defending champions from Sweden, the Carlstad Crusaders were rudely bounced out of the tournament in their first game by the Koc Rams and now face the St. Petersburg Griffins in Russia. Since the Griffins were also beaten by the Rams, this game is for pride only. The Crusaders were edged by the Turkish team 6-0 while St. Petersburg was soundly thrashed 47-17. Since both teams rebounded to form in their respective leagues, winning games handily, this game could be interesting.

Conference North

Prague Lions (Czech Republic) (0-1) – Wroclaw Panthers (Poland) (1-0)

The Prague Lions did not fare well in their matchup against the Triangle Razorbacks in Denmark losing 20-7.

But in the confines of their home stadium of Hostivař, in Prague, this could be a different Lions team. Although the Panthers had no problem with the Razorbacks at home dispatching them 31-10, playing on the road in Prague could play havoc for the Polish 2015 runners up.

The Bogazici Sultans from Istanbul, Turkey were edged by Portugal’s Lisbon Devils 32-27 in a game that could have gone either way. Novi Sad suffered the same fate at the hands of the Danube Dragons from Austria, losing 14-8 in overtime in a tough defensive battle.

This could be a difficult task for the Sultans as they travel to Serbia to face the defending Serbian champions on their home turf. Although the game has no bearing on the standings here again bragging rights are up for grabs.
