ggressive defenses and strong defensive lineman despise the trap play. Usually an offense blocks these three-techniques and nose tackles with double-teams and wedge blocks, but once that defensive tackle starts moving backwards, he starts coming ever harder, faster and lower. To combat this, a coach may introduce the trap play. The center and guards down blocks allowing the DT to come free up field, …moments before a pulling guard comes out of nowhere and clears him out, leaving a huge swath of daylight for the running back.
After running this play a few times, it will leave the defensive backfield and linebackers no choice but to begin yelling alerts like Admiral Ackbar!
