LIVE STREAM: Frankfurt Universe v. Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, Aug. 5 @ 5p CEST (11a EDT)

The undefeated Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns will welcome their chief rivals in the German Football League South division, the 8-1 Frankfurt Universe, to Optima Sportpark in Schwabsich Hall for a battle which could decide top spot in the division for the playoffs.

This is a clash between the highest scoring offense in the league in the Unicorns (44.2 points/game) and the Universe’s league-best defense which has allowed just 78 points in nine games.

The last time these two teams played each other was only three weeks ago when the Unicorns won 24-7 after putting on their own defensive display, holding Frankfurt to zero points in the second half. However, since that game, the Universe have added quarterback Jaleel Awini who is as dangerous with his feet and his arm. In Frankfurt’s 35-7 win over the third place Marburg Mercenaries, Awini was a key factor.

Schwäbisch Hall quarterback Marco Ehrenfried is having a career year. He leads the league’s top offense and is the third-leading passer in Germany averaging 274.5 yards a game and has thrown a league-high 34 touchdown passes.

Frankfurt running back Silas Nacita is now the second leading rusher in terms of overall yardage in Germany having run for 1,019 yards following his 196 yard performance against Marburg. For the Unicorns, Danny Washington has been the main ball carrier with 596 yards rushing.

However, these are two of the top five rush defenses facing each other.

Unicorns WR Nathaniel Robitaille

Unicorns receiver Nathaniel Robitaille has caught 51 passes for 829 yards and a league-best 15 touchdowns, good for third overall in Germany so far this season. With the uncertainty at quarterback for Frankfurt, receiver David Giron has still posted impressive numbers with 603 yards in receptions.

This will be a down-to-the-wire football game. And with first place up for grabs, anything can happen.
