Mexicas open LFA season in Mexico with convincing win over Condors

The Mexico City Mexicas opened the third season of the Liga de Futbol Americano Profesional (LFA) with a come-from-behind 36-19 victory over the Condors at the Estadio Palillo Martínez in Mexico City.

Trailing 19-13 at the half, the Mexicas offense exploded for 23 second half points for the win.

Quarterback Ricardo Quintana threw three touchdown passes one each to Guilermo Villalobos, Vladimr Araiza and Fernando Alvarez while running back Terrill Gourdine and Araiza scored rushing touchdowns.

The Mexicas defense completely shut down the Condors in the 2nd half

Araiza was understandably happy after the game:

“It was a tough game at the beginning but we worked well together, we were sure that things would go well. It’s a new era for this team, we’re going to give a lot of spectacle and fun for our fans.

Guillermo Villalobos, who caught a touchdown pass:

We calmed down after falling behind and adjusted the offense to give us an advantage. We know we have a lot to improve on but victory always leaves a good taste in the mouth”.
