Press Release: Egyptian Federation of American Football

Where football represented a dream for many throughout the past 5 years. In 2014 the dream was harvested through the national team assembly, IFAF affiliation, and the African championship game.

However, many internal problems and frustrations within players around Egypt regarding the organization and the leadership style with total lack of transparency, values and code of conduct, driving players to disconnect. The negative energy overwhelmed all teams involved.

Nonetheless, this negative energy was the driving force behind the formation of the Egyptian Federation of American Football (EFAF), a legally accredited and socially responsible organization that is currently the official hub for American football in Egypt. Having affiliated and contracted the five main teams in Egypt from of which the national Egyptian team was formed, and working on the formation of new teams in Cairo as well as all over Egypt.

Accordingly, we would like to officially announce the formation of the Egyptian Federation of American Football (EFAF), the new governing body of the sport in  Egypt. The decision of separation from the ELAF was unanimous amongst all internal board members, general managers and head coaches of all teams sharing the same frustrations and concerns regarding the future of the game caused by the beholden organization. EFAF independently stands strong as the home of American football in Egypt sculpturing football to be nationally and internationally recognized.

Uniting all the teams, players, coaches, and stakeholders behind a strong leadership from within, representing all parties involved, EFAF promises to pave the way for the development of the game in Egypt, and across the region.
