New stat leader in Germany as season heads into final third

As the German Football League heads into the final third of the season,  the league passing, receiving and rushing leaders have not changed while there is a new leader in tackles.  Interestingly, the number one team n Europe, the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions, still has only one player among the top two in any category while the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, has players leading in two of the four categories.

Passing

Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns quarterback Marco Ehrenfried leads the top offense in Germany and his arm is one reason. Following his 262 yard and two touchdown performance against Munich he now has 2,745 yards passing in 10 games and 34 TD passes. Rick Webster of the Ingolstadt Dukes  has jumped up into 2nd with 2,613 yards passing and 28 TD passes. Australian Jared Stegman of the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes  has slid one spot down to 3rd 2,613 yards and a league-leading 41 TDs.  Casey Therriault of the New Yorker Lions with his 2,396 passing yards has moved up into 4th.Dresden Monarchs QB Garrett Safron is 5th in passing yardage with 2,282 yards and  and 30 TDs.

Receiving

Kiel WR Xavier Mitchell has been the favorite target of QB Jared Stegman all year and he continues to lead the league in receiving yardage with 1,124 and 14 touchdown receptions. Not surprisingly, New Yorker Lions WR Niklas Römer is still 2nd with 955 yards while Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns receiver Nate Robitaille has moved up into 3rd with 829 yards receiving and a league-leading 15 TD catches . Alexander Tounkara of the Berlin Rebels had a 158 yard, 3 TD game against the Adler and jumps up to 4th with 817 yards and 10 TDs. Unicorns Tyler Rutenbeck has now entered the top 5 with 790 yards.

Rushing

Kiel Baltic Hurricanes RB Chris McClendon has dominated the rushing stats in the GFL in 2017 and he still the leads after 10 games. He has rushed for 1,439  yards and 15 TDs. Frankfurt’s Silas Nacita had a huge 196 yard game last week to up his total to 1,019 yards and 11 TDs. RB Kevin Parks of the Cologne Crocodiles is 3rd with 942 yards and 13 TDs. Veteran New Yorker Lions RB David McCants is the 4th leading rusher in Germany with 918 yards and 12 TDs. Fabien Gaertner of the 3-9 Munich Cowboys  has slid a spot into 5th with 719 yards.

Tackling

Michael Taylor of the 6-2 Marburg Mercenaries has surged into 1st with his 121 tackles, dropping Munich Cowboy LB Ryan Newell into 2nd for the first time this season with 111 tackles. He led the GFL in tackles in 2013 and 2014 with the Cowboys. Newell’s teammate Jeremiah Maluia of the Cowboys is still 3rd with 105. Allgau Comets LB Niall Padden as usual is among the top five and is 4th with 89 tackles and Burton De Koning of the Berlin Adler has made it among the top 5 with 82 tackles in 9 games.
