São Paulo Storm drown Sorocaba Vipers 54-7

São Paulo Storm – 54
Sorocaba Vipers – 7

Facens – Sorocaba, São Paulo

Import Ronelle Stephens exploded for five touchdowns to lead the charge in a much needed win for the São Paulo Storm. Alan Giamas, Malcom Gasque and Antonio Maida added to the Storm’s downpour of points.

For Storm first year Head Coach, Ale Sagaz, simplicity and execution were the keys to his teams victory in one of Brazil’s oldest rivalries.

‘’In our last few games, we were out of sync, so heading into this game, we simplified the playbook and focused on executing. I think we only ran maybe ten plays, but we spent a lot of time in our scouting to understand which ten plays would work the best against the Vipers,’’ said Sagaz.

Sagaz specifically cited the versatility of Stephens in not only the Storm passing game, but in his skill in running their jet sweep packages. He was also encouraged by the performance of reserve quarterback, Allan Kulbert. ‘’Allan stepped in and played great,’’ he said.

AFI’s take: Both of these teams will need to have productive off seasons to take a step forward in the SuperLiga next year.
