Team USA Downs Canada In 2016 IFAF Under-19 World Championship

Team USA came from behind twice and finally downed a stubborn Canadian squad 32-14 in the opening round of the 2016 IFAF Under-19 World Championship Sunday in Harbin, China.

Quarterback Lindell Stone threw two touchdown passes and Team USA’s defense made a huge goal line stop in the first half and another in the fourth quarter to help lead the United States to an important win.

For the second time in two games, Team USA found itself trailing at the end of the first quarter. Team Canada took the lead twice in the first half only to watch as Stone connected with tight end Ian Murray for the go-ahead touchdown and a 18-14 halftime lead.

Following the break, the U.S. never looked back as it shut out Canada in the second half and added 14 more points to its lead. Stone threw another touchdown pass and Tre Bugg recorded a pick-six make the final score 32-14.

In the other game Sunday, Team Mexico defeated Austria 46-7.
