Watch Live From Iceland As Reykjavik Einherjar Face Norway’s Eidsvoll 1814s

The Reykjavik Einherjar (Reykjavik Champions) take on the Eidsvoll 1814s from Norway in their first ever 11 man American football game Saturday in a match that has been long in the making.

This tiny island nation with a population of 300,000 is soccer crazy after the success of the national team in the recent European Championship tournament, where they finished seventh ahead of Portugal and Spain not to mention England who they defeated.

So Iceland’s ardent group of American football players/coaches is now taking on a similar daunting challenge. The Eidsvoll 1814s are nine-time Norwegian champs and have advanced to the championship final in each of the last four years.

Although the 1814s will not be bringing their entire squad and all their starters, they will have enough good players and coaches on hand to give the Icelanders a true test of where they stand.

Watch for Einherjar quarterback Bergbör Phillip Pálsson to play a big role. He also played quarterback for the Norwegian Div. 2 team the Åsane Seahawks.

Kickoff: Saturday Nov. 12, 8 PM (9 PM CET, 3 PM EST)
