Carlstad Crusaders re-sign QB Timothy Morovick

Sweden’s Carlstad Crusaders have re-signed Timothy Morovick as their quarterback for the 2022 season.

Morovick led the Crusaders to the Swedish semifinals in 2021.

Ironically, Morovick was the quarterback for Carlstad’s archrivals in 2020, the Stockholm Mean Machines, the team the Crusaders defeated that year for the Swedish title.

Carlstad head coach BD Kennedy was thrilled to have Morovick back in the fold:

“We are extremely excited to have Tim here for another year. He is a quality quarterback and a quality leader for the team. It is huge to have him here and be able to work with the team on a year around basis. We look forward having him work with the receivers and offense during our winter training which will kick off soon.”

As mentioned, prior to quarterbacking Carlstad in 2021, the 6’2″, 215 pound, 28-year-old Morovick, from Hemet, California, spent the shortened and late 2020 Swedish season playing for Carlstad’s rival, the Stockholm Mean Machines, leading them to the championship final against Carlstad. During the team’s regular season, Morovick threw for 771 yards in five games and nine touchdowns while rushing for 225 yards and four touchdowns.

Before that, he had spent a tumultuous couple of years. He had originally signed to play for the Helsinki Wolverines in Finland, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented him from traveling to Finland at the time. After signing with the Aarhus Tigers in Denmark in 2019, he suffered a season-ending injury. He had played in Poland with the Wroclaw Panthers in 2017 and 2018 helping them win their second straight Polish title in 2017 while earning the league’s most valuable player award.  He left the team late in the 2018 season in a contract dispute. He spent the 2016 campaign with the Albershausen Crusaders in Germany. Morovick played for Ottawa University (Kansas, NAIA) where he was picked to play in the Senior Bowl.

Needless to say, Morovick has happy to be back in Sweden with the Crusaders:

“I am blessed to be able to call this place home. This is a great organization with championship expectations. I look forward to continuing to build on that championship culture. This is a very tight group that I consider my family now. There is no place I would rather be.

“As far as my personal thoughts…. I still have things to prove!”
