ELF: Frankfurt Galaxy sign former NFL WR Reece Horn

The Frankfurt Galaxy of the European League of Football have signed former NFL receiver Reece Horn. A season-ending injury to running back Gennadiy Adams left the Galaxy with an opening for an American playmaker on offense. Now it seems coach Thomas Kosling has filled that gap with a talented receiver who has experience at the game’s highest level.

The 6’3″, 215-pound pass-catcher most recently played for the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL before being released earlier this summer. Horn also previously played in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021 and Miami Dolphins in 2019, and the Tennesse Titans back in 2016.

The 29-year-old also played professionally in the Spring League, along with the Memphis Express of the AAF and the Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL. As part of the Memphis Express, Horn was one of the league’s top pass-catchers making 429 yards and one score in eight games. Prior to bursting onto the professional scene in the US, Horn made a name for himself as one of Europe’s top receivers.

Horn was a key receiver for Austria’s Dacia Vienna Vikings in 2018 with his 771 yards receiving and 16 touchdowns. The year before, playing for the Milano Seamen in Italy, he had 1,142 yards and 12 touchdowns leading the Seamen to an Italian Bowl championship.

A graduate of the University of Indianapolis (NCAA Div. II), Horn set single-season and career records for receptions (272) and receiving yards (3,562) while racking up 108 catches for 1,396 yards in 2015, another school record. He was named an AFCA All American in 2015 as well.

The veteran pro-pass-catcher now joins a Frankfurt offense looking to take the next step, as they aim to defend their title. Expect quarterback Jakeb Sullivan to get his new weapon involved early and often as Horn’s large catch radius and pro experience could prove invaluable for the Galaxy.
