ELF: AFI’s Offensive All-Stars from the 2022 Season

Although the 2022 European League of Football season has been over for a few weeks now, it is not too late to look back on the year and give credit to the best of the best in the league.  Here are our picks for the top offensive players from this season.

We have selected only one player at offensive tackle and guard respectively.

QB: Zach Edwards, Barcelona Dragons

In a breakout season for the Barcelona Dragons, American quarterback Zach Edwards had a monster year, leading the league in passing yards (3,325) and touchdowns (36).  The Dragons’ lethal passing game helped them win the Southern Conference and earn their first playoff appearance.

RB: Glen Toonga, Hamburg Sea Devils

Probably the single-most dominant player in the league, Glen Toonga was an absolute tank for the Hamburg Sea Devils.  The British running back led the league in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns by wide margins, finishing with 1,468 and 21, respectively.  As the lead back for the best rushing offense in the league, Toonga led the Sea Devils to the best record in the league in the regular season.

WR: Kyle Sweet, Barcelona Dragons

The connection between quarterback Zach Edwards and receiver Kyle Sweet was truly special for the Dragons this season.  Sweet dominated the receiving leaderboards, leading the league in receiving yards (1,561) and touchdowns (17).  His dominant season earned the American out of Washington State University the Offensive Player of the Year award.

WR: Nathaniel Robitaille, Rhein Fire

Nathaniel Robitaille of the Rhein Fire finished second behind Sweet in every major receiving category.  With 1,183 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season, the American was the main offensive threat for the Fire in their inaugural season.

WR: Quinten Pounds, Cologne Centurions

Quinten Pounds was a bright spot for the Cologne Centurions in an otherwise disappointing season for the team.  Finishing with 1,009 yards and 13 touchdowns, the American out of the University of Washington was productive all season, even when the opposing teams knew he would be targeted.

TE: Adria Botello Moreno, Vienna Vikings

The league leader in receiving yards (376) and touchdowns (3) among tight ends, Adria Moreno was a key piece for the champion Vienna Vikings this season.  The Spaniard, who played collegiately in the United States for the Sioux Falls Cougars, was also a reliable blocker for the Vikings.

T: Aleksander Milanovic, Vienna Vikings

At 6’7”, 285 pounds, Milanovic was a monster at tackle for the Vienna Vikings this season helping them take home the championship.  The native Austrian, who spent time at Sacramento State University in the United States, was dominant in pass blocking and run blocking.

G: Toby Lettman, Vienna Vikings

Toby Lettman was another key cog in the Vikings’ offensive machine this year.  Weighing over 300 pounds, the lineman from Great Britain was an immovable force in the Vikings interior line.

C: Joachim Christensen, Frankfurt Galaxy

At 6’5”, 308 pounds, Joachim Christensen was the centerpiece of the Frankfurt Galaxy’s offensive line.  The veteran from Denmark continued his standout career with another great season this year.

A current student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Carter played football in high school and has been a lifelong avid football fan.
