ELF: Stuttgart Surge sign former Auburn DB Christian Tutt

The Stuttgart Surge have made a big splash in the European League of Football with their final American import signing of the offseason, as the team announced the addition of former Auburn Tiger Christian Tutt.

A native of Thomson, Georgia, Tutt committed to Auburn University of the SEC out of high school.  He saw meaningful playing time as a true freshman in 2018, as he recorded 17 total tackles along with an interception and a sack in 11 games.  His most productive season was 2019 as in 13 games he recorded 32 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble as the Tigers finished 9-4.  His final season with Auburn was 2020, in which he had 31 total tackles, a pass deflection, and a fumble recovery which he returned for a touchdown in a game against LSU.  He also handled some punt return duties, as he returned 31 punts for an average of 13.2 yards per return over his three seasons.

Tutt made his professional debut with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL in 2022 after being drafted by them in the second round.  He played with the team in both 2022 and 2023, recording 32 total tackles and also handling return duties.  Now, he heads to Europe and the ELF and signs with last season’s runner ups.

Tutt will be joining an impressive Surge defense, which most notably includes 2023 ELF All-Star and fellow American defensive back Mitch Fettig, former NFL linebacker Chris Ezeala, and second-team all star pass rusher Sasan Jelvani.  After going from 0-12 in 2022 to championship finalists in 2023, the Surge look to be primed for another big year in 2024.
