LIVESTREAM Sweden PPV: Carlstad Crusaders @ Tyresö Royal Crowns, April 20, 17:00 CET (5 pm, 11 am EDT)

The Carlstad Crusaders (1-0) travel to Stockholm to face the Tyresö Royal Crowns in the Game of the Week in the Swedish Superserien.

Both teams have looked impressive in their opening games. Tyresö downed Norway’s Oslo Vikings 56-37 while the Crusaders whipped the Kristianstad Predators 42-6.

These two teams faced each other twice in 2023 with the Royal Crowns coming out on top both times, 33-7 and 39-0.

Tyresö quarterback Jared Heywood looked impressive in his debut with the Royal Crowns throwing for 245 yards and five touchdowns. Receiver Edvin Almeida was the recipient of two of those scoring passes with Kevin Börzsei,  Alexander Segerfeldt and Oskar Atterhall catching one each. Running back Vilgot Valeskog, star of Sweden’s junior team, had an outstanding day rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 14 yards a carry. The Crusaders defense will have their hands full.

For Carlstad, quarterback Slade Jarman (Fort Valley State, NCAA Div. II) is the key. He threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s victory with Albin Forsman as his favorite target.Formans caught six passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. Finnish receiver Kristian Natunen hauled in six passes for 79 yards and a score while Willem Vancompernolle from Holland had four receptions for 65 yards and a score. Running back Young Kennedy was also a key to the Crusaders offense with nine carries for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

This game is a toss up. The Crusaders seem to have rebounded from a dismal 2023 season and are looking to challenge for the title while Tyresö have definitely beefed up their backfield and are also a contender.
