Veteran WR Anthony Mahoungou returns to Paris Musketeers, eyes ELF redemption

The Paris Musketeers (ELF) have secured a major boost for their 2025 campaign, re-signing French star wide receiver Anthony Mahoungou. The 30-year-old Paris native, whose 2024 season was derailed by injury, aims to reclaim his status as one of Europe’s most electrifying playmakers.

Mahoungou’s European dominance
Mahoungou’s pedigree is undeniable. In 2023, he helped propel the Rhein Fire to an ELF title with 60 receptions, 984 yards, and 11 touchdowns—cementing his reputation as a red-zone nightmare. Prior to that, he starred for Frankfurt Galaxy in the ELF’s 2021 inaugural season, tallying 468 yards and six TDs en route to another championship. His blend of size (6’3”, 210 lbs), speed, and contested-catch ability has tormented defenses across the continent.

Global journey: CFL setbacks and NFL near-misses
Drafted in the CFL Global Draft by the Ottawa REDBLACKS in 2021, Mahoungou’s North American journey stalled as he languished on the practice squad. Yet his near-miss with the Philadelphia Eagles underscores his raw talent. After a standout senior year at Purdue University (688 yards, 8 TDs), he signed as an undrafted free agent but was cut before the regular season. “I’ve always played with a chip,” Mahoungou told ELF Today. “Every ‘no’ fuels me.”

From Paris to Purdue: A football odyssey
Mahoungou’s roots trace back to La Courneuve Flash, where he began playing at 13. A late bloomer, he moved to the United States and exploded at West Hills Junior College (801 yards, 9 TDs) before transferring to Purdue. Initially pegged as a safety—inspired by Ed Reed—he transitioned to WR, where his leaping ability and route precision shone.

2025 outlook: Health and leadership
After appearing in just seven games for Paris last year due to an injury, Mahoungou’s return bolsters a Musketeers squad hungry for playoff contention.

With Paris aiming to climb the ELF’s ultra-competitive West Conference, Mahoungou’s veteran savvy and big-play flair could be the catalyst—if his body cooperates. For a player who’s thrived on proving doubters wrong, 2025 offers one more chance to shine.
