Fujitsu Frontiers dominate IBM Big Blue in XLeague showdown

In a commanding performance at Fujitsu Stadium Kawasaki, the Fujitsu Frontiers (4-1) overwhelmed the IBM Big Blue (1-4) with a decisive 59-10 victory. This win not only boosts Fujitsu’s record but also secures their spot in the upcoming Rice Bowl tournament, joining other top teams in the league.

Fast start for Fujitsu
Fujitsu wasted no time establishing their dominance, scoring on the second play of the game when defensive back Bronson Beatty forced a fumble, which linebacker Shorai Zhao recovered and returned for a touchdown. Just moments later, quarterback Tsubasa Takagi connected with wide receiver Hayato Takatsusa for a 28-yard touchdown pass, putting Fujitsu up 14-0 less than three minutes into the game. The Frontiers continued to build their lead with a field goal from Koji Nasho, ending the first quarter with a 17-0 advantage.

Offensive onslaught continues
The second quarter saw Fujitsu maintain their momentum, with running back Trashaun Nixon scoring on a 48-yard touchdown run and Takaki Miyake adding another rushing touchdown. Despite a field goal from IBM’s Yuto Fukuoka, Fujitsu responded with a touchdown run from Yodai Kamada, heading into halftime with a commanding 38-3 lead.

Second half dominance
In the second half, Fujitsu continued to assert their control, scoring another touchdown with a run from Miyake. The Frontiers’ offense was relentless, and even with a lineup change, they managed to score three more touchdowns while limiting IBM to just one late-game touchdown from Shoei Itami. Fujitsu’s defense was equally impressive, forcing turnovers and keeping IBM’s offense in check throughout the game.

Key player performances
Takagi finished the game with 132 passing yards and one touchdown, while Kamada added 149 passing yards and another touchdown. On the ground, Miyake led the rushing attack with 67 yards and three touchdowns, while Nixon contributed with 48 yards and a touchdown. For IBM, Yuki Masamoto struggled, completing 5 of 7 passes for 44 yards, while Yamanaka led the rushing game with 25 yards and a touchdown.

With this victory, Fujitsu Frontiers solidify their position as a top contender in the XLeague, while IBM will need to regroup as they look to improve in their remaining games.
