Turkey’s Koc Rams whip Moscow Patriots, advance to CEFL title game

Turkey’s Koc Rams, defending Turkish champions, unloaded their offensive firepower on the top team in Russia, the Moscow Patriots, demolishing them 61-21 to capture the Central European Football League (CEFL) East division crown.

With the win, the Rams qualify for the CEFL final where they will face Austria’s Swarco Raiders in CEFL Bowl XIII  June 9.The Raiders are the defending CEFL champions.

The score is misleading. Moscow’s last two touchdowns came in the fourth quarter, in what some call “garbage time”.

Rams quarterback David Whipple was unstoppable throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for two more. Receiver Ja Vontae Hence hauled in two touchdown passes while Kaan Özer and Ozan Özcan caught one each.

Taha Çokadar and Muhammet Kuru added a rushing score each and Can Demirsoy snagged an interception and returned it for a touchdown.

Patriots quarterback Igor Chernoluskiy rushed for one touchdown and threw for two more, both to EJ Woods.

The Rams roared out to a 35-7 halftime lead and continued to pour it on extending the lead to 54-7 before two late Moscow touchdowns. Rams running back Emre Kuru scored the game’s last touchdown.
