Finland: Seinäjoki Crocodiles sign Amir Kilani, Stéphane Fortes from Team France

The Seinäjoki Crocodiles from Finland’s Maple League, have signed a pair of French national team members to bolster their team in 2019.

Amir Kilani (20), 5’11”, 185 lb and Stephane Fortes, a native of Paris, France, 5’10”, 170 lb (24),  both played for the French champions, La Courneuve Flash in 2018.

Fortes was a key to the Flash’s back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018. He had 69 receptions for 1,291 yards and 24 touchdowns over two seasons and was a key contributor when France won the World Games title in Poland in 2017.

Kilani was Fortes teammate on the Flash and in his rookie year in 2018 helped the Flash win the French title for the second time in two years and also contributed in the secondary when France won the European title for the first time in their history. For the Flash, Kilani recorded 24 tackles, one interception and recovered a fumble.

Kilani and Fortes join quarterback Jonathan Baker, who finished the 2018 season with Seinajoki after leading the French league in passing, and running back Christian Powell (Colorado) who rushed for 946 yards for the Crocodiles last season.

Crocodiles head coach, Michael Mattingly:

“We have upgraded in two positions of need by signing Amir and Stéphane. Both guys are coming from the Flash along with the French National team. They’re athletic and fast players with a good knowledge of the game itself. I think both of them will have a big season coming up in 2019 in the Maple League.”
