Adam Sandler’s cinematic challenge to Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry has an unconventional motivator for the 2025 NFL season: a movie role from actor Adam Sandler if he surpasses 2,000 rushing yards.

Sandler’s star-struck proposition
The bet emerged after Henry called Sandler his “favorite actor” during a June 6 appearance on The Dan Patrick Show. Patrick relayed the challenge, suggesting a 2,000-yard season should earn Henry a film role. Sandler confirmed the deal the next day via video, adding, “We’ll have a nice dinner together.” Henry responded enthusiastically, messaging Patrick: “That was really cool!”

Henry’s historic precedent
The five-time Pro Bowler previously eclipsed 2,000 yards in 2020 with the Tennessee Titans, rushing for a league-leading 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns. His 5.4 yards per carry that season ranked third among running backs with 150+ attempts. Last year, Henry’s debut with the Ravens fell just 79 yards short of repeating the feat, as he led all rushers with 5.9 yards per carry and topped the NFL with 16 touchdowns.

2025 pursuit and stakes
Henry’s 1,921-yard 2024 campaign demonstrated his enduring dominance at age 30. Reaching 2,000 yards in 2025 would place him among just eight players in NFL history to achieve the milestone multiple times. Sandler’s offer adds Hollywood intrigue to Henry’s quest, though defenders may curse the comedian for fueling the running back’s motivation. With 325 carries last season, Henry’s workload suggests the Ravens remain committed to his bruising style—a formula that could soon earn him a spot on the big screen.
