AFI Live: The state of race relations in football in Europe – Part 2 – Saturday, June 20, 4p CET (10a ET): Emmanuel Lewis, Patrick Donahue & George Robinson

Don’t miss this special edition of AFI Live on race relations in American football in Europe.

As waves of protest continue to roll around the world over the deaths of George Floyd and Rayshard Brooks, discussions on race relations are more important than ever. AFI has invited three prominent and successful players to the second round of discussions regarding the state of race relations throughout the world and in football in Europe. Emmanuel Lewis, Patrick Donahue and George Robinson, all veterans of football in Europe will join us for another frank discussion on race both in football and in society in Europe.

So please tune in for this episode of AFI Live on Facebook Saturday, June 20 at 4 pm Central European Time (10 am Eastern Daylight Time).

Our panel – John McKeon, Kaleb Leach, and Roger Kelly – will be on hand to ask questions and hopefully answer questions as we discuss the race situation in football in Europe and elsewhere.

Emmanuel Lewis

The 32-year-old Lewis from Tulare, California, is a veteran of football in Europe.  He has spent the last two seasons coaching serving on the coaching staff of the Ingolstadt Dukes in the German Football League in 2019 and working with Holland’s Amsterdam Crusaders in 2018. He played for the Yeditepe Eagles in Turkey’s top division in 2018 and both the Minsk Zubrs (Belarus) and Marburg Mercenaries (GFL) in 2017. After leading the Frankfurt Galaxy (Universe) to an undefeated season in 2015 helping them to advance to the German Football League’s top tier, he served in 2016, Lewis served as offensive coordinator at Oakland Technical High School in Oakland, California, helping the Bulldogs to a 5-5 season and a berth in the playoffs.

Lewis spent his college career at Ball State and New Mexico Highlands where he impressed NFL draft prognosticators.

Patrick Donahue

The 5’11”,  195 lb return specialist from Los Angeles, who is heading back to Germany in a coaching capacity with the Bad Mergentheim Wolfpack for the upcoming season, is coming off an unbeaten season with the Swarco Raiders who won back-to-back Austrian titles and the CEFL crown in 2019 and 2018. He had signed with the Raiders in 2017, but he suffered a leg injury which halted his season before it started and so he spent the rest of 2017 helping coach the Raiders.

Known as Germany’s most feared returner before heading to Austria, Donahue helped the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns to the German Bowl. He led the GFL in scoring in 2016 and was second in 2015.

George Robinson

The 31-year-old native of Stockport, England played for Wartburg College (NCAA Div. III) in Iowa before heading to Europe. Playing for the Frankfurt Universe  for the past four seasons, Robinson amassed 2,375 yards in receptions while hauling in 27 scoring passes. He spent two seasons with the Ingolstadt Dukes in Germany after playing for Austria’s St. Pölten Invaders  in 2013.
