AFI.tv set to show German Bowl XLII

The biggest game of the year in the German Football LeagueGerman Bowl XLII which will pit the Dresden Monarchs and Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns against each other – is set to kick off Saturday, October 9 in Frankfurt.

With a crowd expected of upwards of 14,500 spectators (maximum allowed), and a national TV broadcast, the game promises to be a major sporting event. Two separate commentator crews will be on hand, one German and one English. AFI.tv has the pleasure of introducing play by play man Harold McMillan and his color man Tino von Eckart to our international audience.

The Dresden Monarchs finished the regular season with a 9-1 record and then proceeded to defeat the Allgäu Comets 50-13 in the quarterfinals and then blanked the Saarland Hurricanes 37-0 in the semifinals. The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns went undefeated during the regular season (10-0) and then downed the defending champion Braunschweig New Yorker Lions 38-13 in the quarterfinal round before earning a 28-18 victory over the Potsdam Royals in the semis.
