WINNIPEG — One of the best Canadians to ever play in the CFL solidified himself in the history books on Thursday night.
Andrew Harris became the all-time Canadian leader in yards from scrimmage at IG Field as his Bombers hosted the BC Lions. Harris hit the milestone in the third quarter of the contest.
Heading into Week 10’s game, Harris was sitting at 13,304 yards from scrimmage, just 65 yards behind Ben Cahoon (13,368) for the top spot.
Ray Elgaard (13,289), Jim Young (10,098) and Norm Kwong (9,925) rounded out the top five on the list.
Prior to Thursday’s contest, Harris had accumulated 746 yards on the ground and 322 yards through the air in 2019 and scored five touchdowns.
Over his nine-year CFL career, the 32-year-old has rushed 8,404 yards, hauled in 4,900 yards out of the back field and scored 76 majors. The five-foot-10, 216-pounder is also the only player in CFL history to rush for 4,000+ yards with two different teams (BC and Winnipeg).
