The Vienna Vikings silenced any critics they might possibly have in a dominant display against France’s Aix-en-Provence Argonautes in France on the weekend whipping the French squad 42-0 in the opening game of the Big6 tournament.
With starting quarterback Alexander Thury sidelined, Bernhard Seikovits stepped into the role with ease and guided a Vikings offense that was running smoothly. He found wide receiver Marian Deininger for a 7-0 first quarter lead and then Vienna’s defense stepped up.
Defensive back Luis Horvath picked off a Ryan Perrilloux pass and took it all the way for a touchdown giving the Vikings a 14-0 lead.
But then Vienna exploded for three touchdowns in the third quarter with receiver Maurice Wappl hauling in a Seikovits pass to extend the lead to 21-0. Then defensive back Maximilian Zangl scooped up a fumble and returned it to the end zone for a 28-0 lead.
The Vikings defense continued to shine as defensive back Christoph Gombkötö picked off another pass for a touchdown. And then the offense got back into the act as running back Florian Maier rounded off the scoring with a touchdown of his own. Kicker Sebastian Daum was perfect on PATs, converting all six scores.
