Badalona Dracs In Dominant Form In Spain

The Badalona Dracs are in a league of their own in Spain at this point of the 2016 season. With their 56-8 thrashing of the Barbera Rookies last weekend, the Dracs have now  laid waste to all the other four teams in the Spanish league. They have won all four of their games so far this season by a lopsided 209-39. Quarterback Mike Box has tossed 17 touchdown passes in the four contests.

Badalona Dracs 56 – Barbera Rookies 8

Badalona quarterback Mike Box threw six touchdown passes and the Dracs jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead and then cruised to a lopsided 56-8 victory. Robbie Jackson caught three touchdown passes and Drew Clausen two as Badalona ran away with this game early.

The only bright light for the Rookies was a Tim Pape interception return for a touchdown in the second half off of a Sergio Gonzalez pass.

With the game already in hand at the half, Badalona rested many of their starters as they looked ahead to this weekend’s clash against the Thonon Black Panthers from France in a European Football League matchup.

Camil Canet had a fine day running the football for the Rookies but it was not enough as quarterback Michael Van Deripe could not find a rhythm against the superb Badalona secondary.

The Dracs defense was outstanding and accounted for one of the touchdowns as Javier Garcia picked up a blocked punt and returned it to the end zone in the third quarter to make the score 42-0. Then Box found Ferran Llinás for his sixth touchdown pass and veteran Jordi Soler wound up the scoring on another blocked punt for the final touchdown of the game.
