Behind DL Philippe Redwine’s 2 pick 6s, the Nojima Sagamihara Rise overpowered All Mitsubishi Lions in XLeague clash

Nojima Sagamihara Rise defensive lineman Philippine Redwine was unstoppable snagging a pair of pick 6s in leading his team to a decisive 38-14 win over the All Mitsubishi Lions this past weekend, solidifying their position in the XLeague standings. This victory keeps Nojima in contention for the top spots, while All Mitsubishi struggles to find their footing.

Strong start for Nojima
The game kicked off with Nojima taking an early lead thanks to a field goal from Sora Takeuchi. Just moments later, defensive lineman Philippe Redwine made a spectacular play, returning an interception for a touchdown, giving Nojima a 10-0 advantage. The Lions managed to respond with a touchdown run from quarterback Yuki Yamanaka, but Nojima quickly regained control. Quarterback Kurt Palandech connected with wide receiver Tay Cunningham for three touchdown passes in the second quarter, ending the half with a commanding 31-7 lead.

Dominance continues in the second half
Nojima’s momentum carried into the second half, where Redwine struck again with his second pick-six of the day, further extending the lead to 38-7. Despite the deficit, All Mitsubishi showed resilience with a touchdown run from Naoki Nakano, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the mistakes that plagued their performance, including four interceptions.

Key player performances
Palandech had an impressive outing, completing 15 of 21 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns, while also contributing 34 rushing yards. Cunningham was a standout receiver, racking up 111 yards and three touchdowns on five receptions. For All Mitsubishi, Yamanaka led the ground game with 117 rushing yards and a touchdown, but struggled in the passing game, completing only 8 of 18 attempts for 61 yards.

Looking ahead
With this victory, the Nojima Sagamihara Rise continues to build momentum as they eye the playoffs, while All Mitsubishi will need to regroup and address their mistakes.
