Brazil’s Flamengo Sign Former New Mexico State Aggie to Play in Torneio Touchdown

On June 10, the board of the Flamengo announced the signing of American import Yolandus “Iron Man” Pratt to play the Torneio Touchdown (TTD) season in 2015. Pratt arrived in Rio de Janeiro on June 9 and has already practiced with his teammates.

In 2007, at Southwest Guilford High School (North Carolina), Pratt rushed for 1,700 yards on 122 carries while also playing linebacker and recording 64 tackles. In college, he played at Hudson Valley CC and then with the New Mexico State Aggies.

In 2014, Yolandus played briefly for the Rio Branco Cabritos (now called Rio Branco FA, after merger with Vitória Antares, also from Espírito Santo), where he played in the Copa São Paulo (São Paulo Championship).

The 25-year-old will play both running back and linebacker. According to Flamengo coach Otavio Roichman Pratt is a versatile player who will really help the team.

“With his impressive qualities, Pratt will help us a lot. Initially, I intend to use him on offense and special teams, but I’m also already thinking about the possibility of having him on defense.”

The Flamengos open the TTD season on July 20, when the carioca squad will face Rio Branco FA, at Portuguesa da Ilha Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro.
