Carlstad Crusaders re-sign title-winning quarterback Danny Farley

The Carlstad Crusaders took an important step to defending their newly-won Swedish title with the re-signing of the quarterback who got them there, Danny Farley.

This past fall, Farley led Carlstad to their ninth title in 11 years, but first since 2017, in beating the Stockholm Mean Machines 14-12 in the championship game.

He threw for a total of 1,172 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season.

Carlstad head coach BD Kennedy:

“Danny did an outstanding job for us this season, both on and of the field. He improved each week. He did a great job as a leader throughout the season. He stayed focused and recovered from an injury he suffered right before the first game. We feel like bringing Danny back will give the offense a chance to have some familiarity and chemistry already in place going into 2021.”

Before signing with the Crusaders, the 6’2″, 210 pound native of Boonton, New Jersey had spent the past two seasons playing for the Solingen Paladins in the German Football League 2nd division, GFL2, throwing for a total of 5,310 yards and 48 touchdowns. In 2017, he playing four games for the Saarland Hurricanes in the GFL throwing for 718 yards before heading to Finland to finish the season with the Porvoo Butchers. In five games with Porvoo, he tossed nine touchdown passes while throwing for 889 yards.

Farley finished his college career at the University of Wisconsin-Stout after stints with Delaware Valley University and Rhode Island. After college, Farley also played for Jacksonville Sharks (arena football) before heading to Europe.

Danny Farley is definitely looking forward to returning to Sweden and the Crusaders:

“Really excited to get back to work with the team. I love the city of Carlstad and the people involved in the organization. It’s a brand new season. We have new coaches on board, we will have some new players as well so we have a lot of work ahead these next few months to get prepared. I’m fired up to start this new journey and attack the goals we set for ourselves this coming year.”
