CFL playoff picture comes down to final weekend as three teams battle for position

The final weekend of the 2026 Canadian Football League regular season will determine the playoff destinations of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Calgary Stampeders, with the Western Division’s remaining postseason positions still up for grabs.

Although Saskatchewan has already secured a playoff berth, its destination remains uncertain heading into Week 21.

Four scenarios, three teams

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit the BC Lions on Friday, October 23, while the Roughriders host the Edmonton Elks on Saturday, October 24.

If both Winnipeg and Saskatchewan win, the Roughriders will face BC in the Western Semifinal, while the Blue Bombers cross over to meet the Toronto Argonauts in the Eastern Semifinal.

A Winnipeg victory combined with a Saskatchewan loss sends the Bombers west and the Roughriders east.

If Winnipeg loses and Saskatchewan wins, the Roughriders remain in the West, while Calgary takes the crossover berth.

Should both teams lose, the Stampeders will face BC, with Saskatchewan heading east.

Division leaders await challengers

The Edmonton Elks have clinched first place in the West and will host the Western Final on November 7. The BC Lions will host the Western Semifinal on October 31.

In the East, the Montreal Alouettes have secured first place and will host the Eastern Final, while the Toronto Argonauts will host the Eastern Semifinal.

With the 113th Grey Cup approaching, one final weekend will settle the remaining playoff matchups.
