The Montreal Alouettes (10-3) visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (4-9), the Edmonton Elks (10-3) put their four-game winning streak on the line against the Toronto Argonauts (7-6) and the Ottawa REDBLACKS (0-12) head west to face the Calgary Stampeders (5-8) in a three-game CFL Week 16 slate.
Montreal looks to bounce back
Montreal heads to Hamilton Stadium Friday night trying to steady itself after dropping two of its last three.
The Alouettes fell to the BC Lions in Week 15 but remain on top of the East at 10-3 and have already secured a playoff berth. Hamilton, meanwhile, comes out of its bye with little room left for error at 4-9.
Edmonton rolls into Toronto
Few teams are hotter than Edmonton.
The Elks ripped through Calgary 53-16 last week for their fourth straight victory, improving to 10-3 and clinching a playoff spot. Cody Fajardo leads the Edmonton offense with 3,781 passing yards, while Austin Mack has 945 receiving yards and Justin Rankin has rushed for 853.
Waiting Saturday is a Toronto team riding back-to-back wins and protecting a perfect home record. Chad Kelly threw for 443 yards and two touchdowns last week as the Argonauts escaped Ottawa 26-23 on Lirim Hajrullahu’s walk-off field goal.
Ottawa takes another shot
Ottawa came painfully close to its first victory last week before Toronto snatched it away at the finish.
Now the REDBLACKS take their 0-12 record to McMahon Stadium, where the Stampeders will be trying to stop their own slide after losing both ends of their back-to-back set with Edmonton.
At 5-8, Calgary still has postseason hopes. For Ottawa, Saturday offers another chance to finally break through and put its first win on the board.
