Denmark: Copenhagen Towers annihilate Aarhus Tigers

The Copenhagen Towers continue to march through the Danish American Football League with relative ease as they demolished the second place Aarhus Tigers 48-8 this past weekend to improve to 8-0 in the standings.

Quarterback Randy Schroeder threw four touchdown passes before being replaced by backup quarterback and new offensive coordinator Kasper Skyum late in the third quarter. Former Tigers tight end Jesper “Jelle” Hansen, in his first game facing his former team, hauled in three touchdown passes and kicked two field goals and all the extra points. Dayton Winn scored two touchdowns including a 53 yard run. Philip Thue Nielsen scored the final touchdown for the Towers.

For Aarhus, Hjalte Jakobsen scored the lone touchdown in the third quarter.

The Towers took control early, jumping out to a 14-0 first quarter lead on touchdowns by Hansen. Winn added a touchdown early in the second quarter and then Hansen kicked a field goal to give Copenhagen a 24-0 lead at the break.

Schroeder wasted no time in the third quarter, finding Hansen again for his third touchdown, upping the score to 31-0.

Jakobsen reduced the lead to 31-6 and the Tigers added the two point conversion, but Copenhagen answered as Winn broke free and raced 53 yards for a touchdown. Hansen’s PAT made it 38-8 going into the fourth quarter.

Copenhagen maintained control of the game at that point and Nielsen added an insurance touchdown.

The Towers now face the number three team in Denmark this weekend, the Triangle Razorbacks.
