On Saturday, the Costa Rican Super Bowl was played against the perennial powers of the American Football league based in Costa Rica, the Toros and the Santa Ana Bulldogs.  Although the Toros had won the previous won the previous two regular season games, their undefeated season was denied by the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs had lost the title of being Champions in 2013 to the Toros and were set on regaining that champion status, but the Toros would not give up their title easily. Both teams were set to do battle on the field of “Pipilo” Umana stadium in Moravia.

The Toros looked out of sorts and confused from the beginning. This could have been because they were without their couch and leader, Scott Doherty.  The signal caller and strategist was not on the sidelines for the game to lead the team.

Without him there the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead on an early field goal and then a 31 yard run by Reinhard Weiss.  Another field goal was added to give the Bulldogs a 13 to 0 lead.

Ivan Araya of the Toros tried to keep the game close and showed his speed with a 77 yard run that brought the Toros back into the game.  The Toros defense then chipped in with a safety to bring them to within striking distance.  However, that is as close as they would get.

The Bulldogs running back, Reinhard Weiss, put the game away when he broke free for a 38 yard touchdown run.

The game ended 20 to 8 with the Bulldogs returning to glory and claiming the title of Super Bowl Champions.
