The Znojmo Knights have bolstered their defense with the signing of versatile American linebacker Chakka “CJ” Garnett for the upcoming Czech football league season, adding a player with proven NCAA experience and special teams prowess. The move comes as the Knights look to build on a strong 2025 campaign where they reached the league semifinals with a 6–4 record, narrowly falling 24–21 to the eventual champion Vysocina Gladiators.
A proven playmaker
The 6-foot, 225-pound linebacker from Keller, Texas brings valuable experience from both FBS program University of North Texas and East Texas A&M University. Garnett has demonstrated playmaking ability with a sack against UIW, an interception versus Northwestern State, and even scored a touchdown on a blocked punt during his time with the Mean Green.
Immediate impact expected
Garnett’s background as a core special teams contributor and his familiarity with high-pressure defensive systems make him an ideal candidate to strengthen the Knights’ defense while providing immediate value in the kicking game. His addition signals Znojmo‘s intent to take the next step after last year’s semifinal heartbreak, aiming to compete with enhanced physicality and defensive depth in the 2026 season.
