Defensive back Tissi Robinson re-signs with New Yorker Lions

Defensive back Tissi Robinson will remain a part of the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions in 2017

Robinson, 6’4″ ft (1.94 m) 205 lb (93 kg), returns for his fourth straight season as defensive back for the German champions.

In 43 German Football League games for the New Yorker Lions, Robinson totaled 120 tackles from the defensive backfield, with 7 tackles for loss, and 16 interceptions. Three of those interceptions Robinson returned for touchdown. Additionally Robinson returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown and caught a score as wide receiver.

Originally from Hameln, Germany, Robinson first joined the Lion in 2008. After a season in Braunschwieg, Robinson transferred to the Swiss powerhouse the Calanda Broncos, where he was a large part of five successful seasons for the Broncos. Robinson was a part of winning a total of five Swiss championships and a EuroBowl victory, as well being named SAFV and SwissBowl MVP during his time in Calanda. Robinson also spent seasons in Canada and California. He was a member of the 2010 Vanier Cup (Canadian college championship) champions Universite Laval and Foothills Community College in 2011.

Tissi Robinson returned to the Lions at start of the 2014 season and for the last three seasons has been an important member of the Lions’ three national and two European championship titles.

The 29-year-old has been superb as a defensive stalwart in the Braunschweig defensive secondary for the Big6 tournaments. His interception in the deep in Lions territory was instrumental in the in the club’s EuroBowl victory last June.
