Denmark: Copenhagen Towers sign Div. 3 All American DE William Sewell

Danish defending champions, the Copenhagen Towers, have bolstered their already impressive defense with the signing of All American DE William Sewell from Frostburg State (NCAA Div. III).

The 6’1″, 245 lb, 24 year old Sewell, a native of Silver Spring, Maryland, played four seasons at Frostburg State University  where he was voted a D3 All American twice and led the team in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks for three straight years. Over his four year career with the Bobcats, Sewell recorded 235 tackles, 56.5 tackles for loss and 24 sacks.

Towers defensive coordinator Victor Andersen, who spent a season coaching at Frostburg State in 2014:

“It’s great to get someone like Will to the club. I remember Will being extremely dedicated and coachable, and so I’ve been trying to get him to the Towers ever since. I have only good things to say about Will. He’s an extreme proficient player, with a crazy physics, but I remember him best for his amazing personality and hard work.”

The Towers will also rely on Sewell’s versatility. He has played tight end and has a pedigree to go along with it. His cousin is Washington Redskin tight end Vernon Davis and they spent summers together working out.

On traveling outside of the United States, Sewell was excited:

“First, it is an opportunity that few people get. In addition, it is a chance to live in another country. It will of course be an experience for life. And then I simply love football. ”

Andersen again:

“The goal was to find an athletic player who can put pressure on the many American QBs who play in the Danish Nationalligaen this year. We have done this with Will and we look forward to welcoming him in mid-May. ”

Sewell will arrive in Copenhagen later in May and make his first appearance in a Towers uniform in time for the May 25 game against the Aarhus Tigers.
